What do you do when the perfect ending falls apart?
After revival, repentance, and the rebuilding of Jerusalem’s walls, Nehemiah 13 takes a jarring turn. Just when everything seemed resolved, God’s people fall back into compromise. In this series finale, Dakota unpacks the raw and messy conclusion to Nehemiah’s story—and why it matters more than we think.
We’ll explore how our best intentions still fall short, why behavior modification can’t transform hearts, and how even righteous anger can’t produce lasting change. But the story doesn’t end in disappointment—because Nehemiah was never meant to be the hero. Jesus is.
Discover why the wall wasn’t enough—and why we need more than just resolve. We need redemption. This is a message for anyone who’s tried to rebuild only to find themselves broken again. There’s grace for your failure. Hope in your relapse. And a Savior who writes far better endings than we ever could.

In today’s sermon, Cy Calhoun, the Family Ministry Director at Heirloom Church, dives deep into the message from Nehemiah 11-12, exploring the difference between good intentions and true revival. Revival isn’t just about a quick start or momentary excitement—it’s about lasting faithfulness. True revival is marked by willing sacrifice, joyful worship, and sustained commitment.
Cy encourages us to reflect on how our own lives can experience this kind of transformation, emphasizing that revival begins with a cost—a willingness to follow through even when it’s uncomfortable. He compares the revival journey to the familiar story of the tortoise and hare, highlighting the importance of discipline and dedication over speed.
Join Cy as he unpacks how the people of Israel in Nehemiah’s time demonstrated revival through sacrifice, and how their example points us back to Christ—the ultimate sacrifice that makes true revival possible. Whether you're in a season of excitement or weariness, this message invites you to embrace a deeper, more sustained commitment to God's work in your life.
Listen now to learn how to move beyond good intentions and experience the lasting transformation that comes with true revival.

It’s easy to say we’re committed to God—but are we living it?
This week, we look at Nehemiah 10, where the people of Israel respond to God’s faithfulness with more than just emotion—they make a public, practical recommitment to follow Him.
In this message, we explore how their covenant shows us what it looks like to live a life of real devotion:
A life that’s distinct in relationships
Ordered around God's priorities
And rooted in worship
True faith is more than words—it’s a response of obedience, surrender, and action. What might God be calling you to commit to today?

What if worship isn’t just about singing—it’s about surrender? In this message from Nehemiah 9, we uncover the profound truth that confession is an act of worship. The Israelites, after years of rebellion, gathered to acknowledge their sin, recount God’s faithfulness, and renew their commitment to Him. Their story mirrors our own journey—how we, too, can find freedom when we stop hiding and start confessing.
Through Scripture and reflection, we’ll explore why God listens to every prayer, how His mercy never runs out, and how true transformation begins when we turn back to Him. Join us as we rediscover the grace and power found in repentance, leading to a deeper relationship with our Savior.

Revival isn’t manufactured—it’s sparked by a return to God’s Word. In Nehemiah 8, the people of Israel didn’t gather for entertainment or emotion, but for Scripture. They rallied together, listened to the public reading of the Law, and experienced true spiritual renewal.
In this episode, we explore how biblical revival is always rooted in God’s Word. From the Protestant Reformation’s cry of Sola Scriptura to the hunger for truth in today’s culture, history proves that when people turn to Scripture, transformation follows.
Why are so many churches spiritually stagnant? What happens when we stop expecting people to engage with deep biblical truth? And what can we learn from Ezra, Nehemiah, and the people of Jerusalem about cultivating a lasting hunger for God’s Word?
Join us as we unpack:🔥 The Rally – The people gathering at the Water Gate📖 The Reading – The power of Scripture explained and understood💡 The Revival – Hearts convicted, lives changed, and joy restored
If we truly believe the Bible is God’s living Word, we must teach it, defend it, and live by it. Let’s bring the Book, trust its power, and watch revival begin.
Listen now and be reminded: Real revival always begins with a return to Scripture.

Distractions are inevitable. The moment you commit to something meaningful, they seem to multiply. You set out to strengthen your marriage, and work piles up. You decide to get serious about your finances, and unexpected expenses hit. You commit to deepening your faith, and suddenly, life pulls you in every direction.
Nehemiah knew this all too well. As he neared the finish line of rebuilding Jerusalem’s walls, his enemies launched one final effort—not to stop the wall, but to stop him. They tried to lure him away with opportunities, shake him with criticism, and paralyze him with fear. But Nehemiah refused to be distracted. His response? "I am doing a great work, and I cannot come down."
In this sermon, we explore how Nehemiah’s focus can help us navigate the distractions that threaten to derail our calling. Whether it's the lure of good opportunities, the sting of criticism, or the grip of fear, we’ll uncover how to stay steadfast in what God has called us to do.
When distractions come, remember:
🚧 A clear vision requires a strong "No" to protect your greater "Yes."📢 Success will silence your critics.💡 Faith propels—fear paralyzes.
You are doing a great work—don’t come down!

Betrayal stings the most when it comes from within.
In this week's message from Nehemiah 5, we see that the greatest opposition to rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem wasn’t from outsiders like Sanballat and Tobiah—it was from God’s own people. Greed, injustice, and division had halted progress. Nehemiah had to step in, confront corruption, and call the people back to integrity.
We’ll unpack:✔ The dangers of internal opposition✔ How Nehemiah led with wisdom, courage, and conviction✔ What it means to live with integrity in a watching world
If you’ve ever faced discouragement, division, or betrayal—even from fellow believers—this message is for you. Don’t let internal opposition derail God’s mission in your life.

What does it take to rebuild a broken city? In Nehemiah 3, we see an entire community coming together—not just skilled laborers, but priests, merchants, goldsmiths, and even perfumers—all stepping up to restore Jerusalem’s walls.
In today’s episode, we explore how Nehemiah’s leadership transformed an overwhelming task into an organized mission, breaking the work into sections and calling everyone to play a part. Much like the church today, God’s Kingdom is not built on the talents of a few, but on the faithfulness of many.
We’ll unpack key principles from this passage, including:🔹 Ministry is a shared mission, not a one-man show.🔹 The Lord’s work requires all kinds of people, from all walks of life.🔹 In God’s work, a little can go a long way.🔹 Where God has placed you is where you’re called to build.
Nehemiah’s story challenges us: Will we step up and take our place in the work of building God’s Kingdom?
If you’ve ever felt like you’re on the sidelines, this message will encourage you to step in, embrace your role, and discover the impact of serving.

This week, we’re looking at how Nehemiah begins the actual work of rebuilding Jerusalem’s walls—and what that means for us. Walls in ruins aren’t just a thing of the past. Many of us are walking through life with broken spiritual, emotional, or relational walls. Maybe your faith feels weak, your emotions tangled, or your relationships strained. Nehemiah’s story gives us a blueprint for rebuilding.
🔨 This Week’s Big Idea:Nehemiah takes three key steps to rebuild what’s broken:1️⃣ Inspect the Damage – Before restoration begins, we have to honestly assess what’s broken.2️⃣ Inspire the People – The work of rebuilding is never a solo effort. We need community.3️⃣ Ignore the Opposition – Anytime God is moving, resistance follows—but we don’t let critics define our calling.
🔥 Key Question: What’s the broken wall in your life that needs rebuilding?
Nehemiah's story reminds us that God is in the business of restoration. He doesn’t just see the ruins—He sees what could be. It’s time to rise up and build.
