Margin: Making Room for What Matters Most 
Last week, we kicked off our two-part series titled “Margin: Making Room for What Matters Most.”
We define margin as "the space between your load and your limit." Your load encompasses the responsibilities and commitments you face daily, while your limits indicate where you might break under pressure. Without creating margin—a buffer or wiggle room—you risk reaching your breaking point. If you don’t establish healthy boundaries for rest, renewal, and what’s truly important, the world will impose its demands on you.
Our society is not designed for margin. The relentless "go-go-go" mindset, hustle culture, and consumeristic lifestyle leave little space for rest. Living so close to a bustling city like Austin can exacerbate this issue, often leading to exhaustion, dissatisfaction, and a sense of unfulfillment.
Many of us feel stretched thin, constantly tired, and yearning for moments to breathe and focus on what truly matters. In this environment, busyness often becomes the enemy of genuine connection.
In today’s episode, Pastor Dakota will dive deeper into the consequences of neglecting margin in our lives, particularly for relationships with believers followers, and the world. Join us as we uncover practical insights for creating the margin we need to thrive!

This week, we conclude our series, DNA: The Building Blocks of Who We Are. Throughout this journey, we've unpacked the cultural values that define how we pursue the mission of Jesus—the Great Commission—as a new church.
In this episode, we focus on the value that Prayer is Our Power.
Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us to make prayer our first response, not our last resort. Paul encourages us to bring every concern to God, whether it’s a crisis, daily stress, or any challenge. Yet, we often handle things on our own, feeling too busy, distracted, or unsure about prayer. As Martin Luther put it, "To be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing." We’ll explore why prayer is sometimes treated as an afterthought and how we can shift to making it our first response, drawing inspiration from Hezekiah’s reliance on God in overwhelming circumstances.
Prayer is our first response, not our last resort. Everything in our life and ministry is rooted in and fueled by prayer. We believe that with God, all things are possible, so we reject small dreams and self-reliance. Nothing of eternal significance happens apart from prayer. We rely on God’s power rather than our own efforts, trusting His promises to exceed our expectations. When we pray, the impossible and unexplainable become possible.

In our first week, we explored how "Jesus is Our Pursuit," emphasizing that everything we do centers on Him—our songs, messages, and priorities. Last week, we shifted to our value of "People are Our Passion," focusing on how we prioritize individuals over programs and strive to see Jesus transform lives through our love and commitment.
This week, we discussed our third cultural value: "Generosity is Our Privilege."
Ultimately, our call to generosity is rooted in the gospel—the ultimate act of sacrificial love. Just as Christ gave Himself for us, we are invited to reflect His generosity in our lives. God demonstrated this when He gave His only Son, Jesus. John 3:16 tells us, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Despite the magnitude of this sacrifice, God gave willingly and cheerfully, looking through the lens of eternity at the incredible outcome of sending His Son Jesus.
God didn’t just tell us how to give—He showed us. He gave His first and best—proportionally, sacrificially, and cheerfully. As we strive to be a generous church, we not only impact our community but also live out the love of Christ, making His grace visible to the world.
At our church, we aspire for generosity to be our privilege, reflecting a heart committed to giving joyfully, sacrificially, and as a priority. Our vision is for a community where needs are met both within our congregation and in the broader community. Generosity should permeate every aspect of church life—from warmly welcoming newcomers to robustly supporting missions and outreach.

Last week, we explored our first cultural value: Jesus is Our Pursuit. We delved into how everything we do, both individually and as a community, revolves around Him. Our gathering is about celebrating Jesus, being transformed by His Spirit, and leaving equipped to fulfill our calling as His church. Jesus is our hero, our message, and our hope. Pursuing Him is our foremost priority.
This week, we shift our focus to our second cultural value: People Are Our Passion. We’ll examine how the love of Christ changes the way we live, how we see others, and how we view ourselves.
At Heirloom, People Are Our Passion. Our heart is for everyone—there’s no one “type” of person here. We’re passionate about newly married couples, singles, divorced individuals, engaged couples, parents with newborns, families with several kids, teenagers, college students, single parents, and people of all ages. Some have never been to church and aren’t sure what they believe, while others have a confident faith in Jesus.
We value people of all ages and life stages. We will always prioritize people over programs and projects because we believe that people should not only be our passion but also our mission. Our passion is for everyone to know and follow Jesus.

DNA: The Building Blocks of Who We Are - Quick Summary
In 1963, President John F. Kennedy articulated a bold vision for space exploration, aiming to land a man on the moon within a decade. His vision wasn't just about reaching the moon; it was about the preservation of human life, emphasizing the importance of safely returning our astronauts home. This compelling vision mirrors the significance of our new sermon series, "DNA: The Building Blocks of Who We Are."
Just as Kennedy's mission had a guiding value, our mission as a church is guided by core values that define our culture, demonstrate what we stand for, and guide how we accomplish our mission of loving and leading people to become faithful followers of Jesus. Pastor Dakota will talk about how we can live them out collectively as a church and individually in our daily lives. By remembering and applying these values, we can effectively share and embody them within our ministry. I am excited to embark on this journey with you, discovering how these values can shape our faith and community.
